On Sunday, October 30th Geoffrey Howes, BCHF Chair, presented Teresa Evans with a cheque for $5000. As publisher and editor both, Teresa gave voice to the BC hospitality industry for 35 years before retiring as editor of BC Restaurant News in 2001. Teresa’s ongoing challenges began in 2009. Diagnosed first with polymialgica rheumatica, then lung cancer, her condition was deemed terminal. While that diagnosis was reversed, further cancer led to the removal of her right kidney in 2010; subsequent diagnoses of arthritis of the spine and fibromyalgia and the ongoing expense and side effects of the various medications have greatly reduced Teresa’s quality of life. To assist Teresa with the accumulated costs, the Foundation presented her with a $5,000 grant.
