The BC Hospitality Foundation is matching funds raised at an event to support Rick Thompson, a veteran foodservices employee from Coquitlam, observed by doctors in 2015 to be the “sickest person in BC”. Every dollar raised for Rick will be matched by the BCHF, up to $7500.

Thompson is hoping to raise enough money for a pair of myoelectric hands called the Michelangelo. These hands will grant him the best chance of regaining his independence. Unfortunately these hands are extremely expensive and insurance only covers a very small portion.

The Hands For Rick Fundraiser takes place on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 5-10pm at Woody’s Pub (935 Brunette Ave, Coquitlam). Tickets are available exclusively at Woody’s Pub. Dinner and a beverage, live music from award-winning artists Jim Byrnes and James Buddy Rogers, a silent auction, 50/50 draw, and raffle prizes round out this inspiring evening of fundraising.
We are pleased to share that the outpouring of support for the fundraiser continues to grow, with exciting items for the silent auction are being added every day.
New items include:
* Two nights at Vancouver’s Five Star Rosewood Hotel Georgia
* A signed Vancouver Canucks hockey jersey & official Canucks hockey sticks
* A gift basket from BCHF beneficiary Jean Moulton
* A $700 gift card from Cecil Ballard at Pacific Pre-Hung Doors (Coquitlam)
* A $1000 gift card from Dwayne English at English Concrete & Coatings towards the ultimate garage floor
* Four pieces of original art donated from the artist Eileen Harder valued at $2400
* Eight pieces of original art donated from the artist Jack Prasad valued at $4000
* A Tassimo machine donated by Trinity United Church
* Gift cards and baskets from Chevron, Super Value, Suki’s Salon and Jessica at L’Oréal Professionnel
* Golf getaway packages… and much more.

Silent auction items will be graciously accepted for the event. Contact Vicki Cartwright at 604-526-1718 for more information.

Can’t make the event and want to donate?

A bank account has been set up on Rick Thompson’s behalf at the Westminster Savings Credit Union. Donations can be made in person at the branch or by calling 1-877-506-0100. Reference the Richard Thompson ” Hands for Rick” account (#467924706 plan 24 sub #1).

$1000 donations have been graciously sent from Ed Bain & Golf For Kids at 100.3 FM “The Q” in Victoria and from the Lions Club in Coquitlam.

Long & McQuade has also donated the sound system for the event.

We look forward to seeing you at the Fundraiser. Let’s turn that $7500 into $15,000, or more!
