I am honored to receive the BC Hospitality Foundation scholarship in honor of Valerie Soon’s legacy. Like Valerie, I have a passion for culinary arts and see food as a means to bring people together and create meaningful connections. Going back to school at Okanagan College for Culinary Arts and working at Lakehouse Kitchens cooking school has allowed me to combine my love of teaching with my nutrition and culinary skills. I am humbled each day that get to help our guests master nutritious elevated home cooking.

As a registered dietitian, I understand the importance of promoting healthy eating habits. Valerie’s focus on fresh, culturally diverse foods for seniors in care is an inspiration to me, and I hope to follow in her footsteps by using my culinary skills to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I am grateful for this scholarship opportunity, which is helping me further my education and career goals in the hospitality industry.
