Amy Samulski, Cherie Timmermans and Sarah Faber have recently started a Go Fund Me page for Julie Rempel and wish to present Julie with the funds raised to date on July 29, 2018 at Matsqui Village Park at an event that will not only make some additional money, but show Julie how cared for and loved she is.
The BCHF will match funds raised at this event up to $2,500.
There will be live music, raffles, toonie tosses, snacks, and sunshine! This is a family event, all ages welcome!
The past few years have been a very difficult journey for her.
Julie Rempel is a 32 year old sporty, social, and positive woman. She has had many battles with her health since she found out at 11 that she had diabetes. At 17 she found out she had a rare genetic disorder called ‘Wolfram’ that has affected her eyesight significantly. Her first tumour was discovered at the age of 23 and it barely slowed her down until she began chemo and radiation last year at the age of 31. Even then, Julie was still out socializing and going to the gym whenever she felt up for it. Although she is ‘legally blind,’ Julie still participates in a women’s basketball league and plays games with a smile on her face. We know those games have become increasingly difficult for her and while many people would give up on these types of things, Julie continues to push forward without complaint and with a strong faith.
