Shelley Huitema who has worked in the Foodservice Suppler side of the business had a brain aneurism on August 28, 2012. She was airlifted from Chilliwack to Royal Columbian Hospital where she remains in intensive care. Shelley spent a number of years at Sysco Vancouver, Heinz and Nestle Professional Vitality in sales has a husband and 2 young daughters 13 and 10 years old. Industry friends held a fundraiser on October 20, 2012 and rose just over $41,000.00 and BCHF matched with another $5000.00 bringing the total to over $46,000.00. On September 28, 2012 Bing Smith ( BCHF chair) presented a cheque to Ellie Newell, Sysco Vancouver (one of the 7 fundraising organizers and BCHF Advisory Board member to be put into the bank account that the group had opened for Shelley and her family.
