
We’re pleased to share that the 2016 BC Hospitality Foundation ‘Our Future Leaders’ Scholarships were presented at the industry breakfast at SUMMIT 2017 in Victoria on Tuesday, April 4.
These scholarships, worth $1,500 each were awarded to students whose dedicated academic pursuit and focus on their chosen industry, make them all very worthy of this honour.
This year’s winners are:
Rachel Bailey (Tourism and Hospitality Management, Business Administration Diploma), Okanagan College, receiving the Dick Gibbons Scholarship, sponsored by the BC Hotel Association
Mehernaaz (Mia) Batliwalla (Hospitality Management Diploma), Vancouver Community College, receiving the Peter Toigo Sr. Scholarship, sponsored by White Spot
Eli David Fucile (Bachelor of Hospitality Management), Vancouver Island University, sponsored by KPMG
Kimberley Gelaude (Hospitality Management Diploma), Camosun College, sponsored by SilverBirch Hotels
Hitin Goodur (Tourism and Hospitality Management Diploma), North Island College, receiving the Lothar Heinrich Scholarship, sponsored by the BC Hotel Association
Clara Graves (Resort and Hotel Management), Selkirk College, sponsored by Gordon Food Service
Lindsay Henderson (Bachelor of Arts in International Hotel Management), Royal Roads University, sponsored by the Hotel Association of Greater Victoria

Special thanks to Dawn Donahue, our volunteer scholarship chair, for her tireless efforts. Since 2009, she has helped the BCHF present a variety scholarships to support the next generation of industry leaders. To date, the BCHF has presented nearly 140 scholarships to students enrolled in hospitality, culinary and sommelier programs worth more than $180,000.
